Waterlooville

Waterlooville town centre — the main shopping and services hub two miles south of Cowplain on the A3.

Waterlooville is the larger town centre immediately to the south of Cowplain, sitting about two miles down London Road and forming the urban hub for the whole PO7/PO8 area. For Cowplain residents, Waterlooville town centre is the nearest place for major shopping, chain restaurants, banks, and larger retail — the kind of offer that the village centre on London Road cannot provide.

The Waterlooville Shopping Precinct (commonly called "the precinct") is a pedestrianised town centre from the 1970s, currently undergoing various regeneration efforts. It contains a range of high-street shops, a library, and several cafes and fast-food outlets. The town is also home to a retail park on the eastern edge with larger-format stores.

Waterlooville has its own strong identity — it is not just a suburb of Portsmouth, though it is in the Portsmouth travel-to-work area. The town has its own leisure centre, cinema, and a reasonable range of independent restaurants and bars. The Cowplain to Waterlooville bus corridor is one of the most frequent in the area.

From a property perspective, Waterlooville town-centre properties are broadly comparable to Cowplain in price, though certain streets closer to the precinct can be slightly lower. PO7 is the main postcode for central Waterlooville.
