Websites for Plumbers in Cowplain: What Makes the Phone Ring

A leak in PO8 gets searched for on a phone, in a hurry, with a place name on the end. Here is what a Cowplain plumber's website needs to catch that search, and a £500 build you own outright.

The short version

A plumber's website needs a page for each service, a page for each area covered, real proof such as your registrations and reviews, and a tap-to-call number on every page. Get those right and the site does its one job, which is to be the page someone lands on when they search for a specific job in a specific place.

The publisher of Cowplain.co, Dean Keating, builds that kind of site for trades from Horndean: £500 one-off, yours to own, no contract or monthly fee, 200+ pages and 12 months of SEO included. See the £500 website build.

Two very different customers

Someone with water coming through a ceiling and someone planning a new bathroom are not the same customer. They search differently, they decide at a different speed, and they should land on different pages.

People rarely search for "plumber" alone. They search for "emergency plumber", "boiler repair", "boiler service", "leak repair", "bathroom fitting" and "blocked drain", usually followed by a place. Each of those wants its own page.

The places on the end of the search

"Plumber in Cowplain" and "plumber in Horndean" are separate searches. Cowplain sits between Horndean to the north and Waterlooville about two miles to the south, with Leigh Park alongside. A plumber based here may well cover all of them.

A page for each place, and for each service in each place, is how a small firm appears across that whole area and not just in the street it is based on. That is where a 200-page site comes from.

Leaks do not wait

Leaks and boiler breakdowns happen at awkward times. Put your phone number at the top of every page as a tap-to-call button, and be clear about your call-out hours, so people know whether to ring you at nine at night.

Most visitors are on a phone. Check your own site on yours and see whether you can ring the business in one tap from any page.

Gas, badges and photos

If you work on gas, customers expect to see that you are registered to do so. Show the registration you actually hold, with your number, and do not list gas work if you are not registered for it. Never let anyone put a badge on your site that is not yours.

Before-and-after bathroom photos and pictures of neat pipework and boiler installs are your strongest sales tool. Use your own.

The competition

There is no ranked guide to plumbers on Cowplain.co yet. Our sister site ranks plumbers in neighbouring Waterlooville on their Google reviews, and it shows how many reviews established local firms have built up. Review counts are a big part of who gets the call. A website and a steady flow of genuine Google reviews work together, and neither replaces the other.

Your business can also have a free basic listing here: add it to Cowplain.co.

Before you hire anyone

Start with website design for tradesmen in Cowplain, which covers the questions to ask any designer, the first being whether you will own the site. Then read how websites are priced. Quick answers

Is there someone local who builds websites for plumbers? Yes. Dean Keating, the publisher of Cowplain.co, is based in Horndean and builds websites for trades including plumbers for £500 one-off, which you own outright.

What belongs on a plumber's website? A page for each service, a page for each area covered, a tap-to-call phone number on every page, your own photos, your real registrations and your genuine reviews.

Are Google reviews enough without a website? Reviews matter a great deal, but a Google listing cannot give you a page for every service in every place. The two work together.

How much is the build? £500 as a single payment, with no monthly fee or contract, 200+ pages and 12 months of SEO included.

Can my site say I do gas work? Only if you are registered for it. Show the registration you actually hold, and never let a designer add a badge or a review count that is not true.
