What's On in Cowplain: 7 June 2026

Summer's here and our community is buzzing with youth football glory, playground improvements, and exciting new ventures opening soon.

Cowplain Editorial7 June 2026

Good Morning, Cowplain

Hello! What a brilliant week it's been for the village. Our young footballers have given everyone something to cheer about, there's real investment happening in local schools, and summer's finally settled in properly. Time to make the most of it.

This Week in Cowplain

  • Cowplain Youth Spitfires are champions! Our Under-15s have won the Portsmouth Youth League Under-15 Cup — brilliant effort from the lads and a real source of pride for the community. Well done to everyone involved.
  • Local school playground gets a major upgrade — a housebuilder's returned to continue improving play facilities at a Waterlooville school. Great to see investment in spaces where our kids spend their days.
  • Record shop coming soon — a passionate collector is opening a new record shop in our area this summer. It's been described as a labour of love, and if you're into vinyl or just fancy browsing, this one's worth watching for.
  • Messy Church bringing families together — local Messy Church activities continue to create wonderful creative moments for families. If you haven't joined in yet, it's a genuinely welcoming way to meet neighbours and get stuck into some craft.

This Weekend

Weather looks decent, so get outside if you can.

Queen's Inclosure is absolutely lovely in early June — just a few minutes' walk east from the village. It's perfect for a gentle ramble, spotting wildlife, and enjoying the woodland. No faffing about; just pop out the door and you're there.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park is about 5 miles north up the A3 if you fancy somewhere bigger. 1,400 acres of chalk downland and forest — ideal for a proper walk or a picnic if you're feeling ambitious.

If the weather turns, The White Hart or The Red Lion on London Road are both proper village pubs where you can settle in with a pint and a chat. Both are good shouts for a relaxed afternoon or evening.

Where to Eat and Drink

The White Hart on London Road is always reliable — good atmosphere, friendly staff, and they do proper pub food. It's the kind of place where you'll bump into someone you know.

The Heroes is worth a visit if you fancy something a bit different. Proper welcoming spot and great if you're after a decent drink and good company.

For a quick bite without heading into Waterlooville, the Co-op and Tesco Express on London Road have the basics sorted, but honestly, a trip into Waterlooville town centre (just 2 miles south on the bus) gives you proper choice if you've got time.

Worth Knowing

Getting about: Bus routes 23 and 23A run regularly to Havant and Portsmouth — handy if you're avoiding the car. The A3 can get busy during peak hours, so factor that in if you're heading to Queen Elizabeth Country Park or further afield.

Keep an eye on that record shop opening — exact date hasn't been announced yet, but watch this space. This is exactly the kind of independent venture that makes a community feel alive. Worth supporting when it opens.

Have a brilliant week, and do support our young Spitfires wherever you can!
